2017年1月，美国早期儿童STEM工作组（the Early Childhood STEM Working Group）发布《早期STEM教育不容小觑：为所有幼儿提供高质量STEM学习经验》（Early STEM Matters:Providing High-Quality Experiencesfor All Young Learners）研究报告，阐述了开展早期STEM教育的4个指导原则，厘清了早期STEM教育应规避的认识误区，指明了早期STEM教育开展的方向。

2018年12月3日，美国白宫发布了STEM教育下一个五年战略计划——《制定成功之路：美国STEM教育战略》。《制定成功之路：美国STEM教育战略》由美国国家科学技术委员会STEM教育委员会制定。美国国家科学技术委员会（The National Scienceand Technology Council，NSTC）是行政部门协调联邦政府研究与开发科学技术政策的主要机构，它的主要目标是确保科学技术政策决策和方案与总统所述的目标一致。
